Alternative medicine provides "non-conventional" treatments for a variety of medical conditions.
Cold Laser Therapy
We added our Companion Therapy Laser to our practice in 2009; allowing us to offer our patients instant relief from pain, inflammation, and swelling associated with soft tissue injuries, trauma, surgery, and chronic everyday disorders. This class IV laser is an FDA approved, deep penetrating light that allows the relief of pain through the release of endorphins, and stimulates the injured cells to heal at a faster rate. As our best friends age, recover from trauma or surgery, or simply need relief from everyday aches and pains, this advanced technology offers: drug-free, surgery-free, pain-free relief.
Some of the disorders that respond to Laser Therapy:
The Companion Therapy Laser is used in concert with our CO2 Surgical Laser, and is an important step in our post-surgery pain control program by accelerating healing without any dangerous side effects.

Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cells have been used for years in human medical treatments. Advances in technology have led to dramatic increases in veterinary studies as well. Adult stem cells are present in small numbers throughout most tissues and organs, and can be used to treat a wide range of issues in dogs and cats, such as:
Small skin biopsies are collected by us, and shipped to the lab to isolate, expand, and purify cells. Your pet will receive their own cells, lab tested for viability and purity. A portion can be shipped for immediate use, with the remainder cryopreserved and banked for future use.
This therapy is easily administered in-house by intravenous and/or direct injection to the affected area, and can be used alone or in conjunction with other traditional therapies.
We have used Adult Stem Cell Therapy very successfully in several patients to date.

An Essential Oil is defined as a concentrated hydrophobic oil typically obtained by distillation that possesses the fragrance and characteristic properties of the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers or other parts of the plant it is extracted from.
These oils have been used for thousands of years for their therapeutic properties. Young Living Essential Oils are independent laboratory tested proving that they meet and often exceed industry requirements. Young Living goes on to include their own rigorous quality assurance requirements to achieve their Seed To Seal promise of purity.

Not only do we believe in the benefits of therapeutic grade essential oils at Countryside Animal Hospital, we also believe in using safe and effective alternatives to traditionally harsh chemical cleaning products. As Dr. Mills would say, "Our patients walk in naked and barefoot", so it is essential that the products we use on surfaces your pet will come in contact with are considered safe. Young Living offers a wide range of cleaning products that give fantastic results, naturally. From the cleaners we use to disinfect floors and exam tables, to the hand soap and waterless hand purifier used, you can be assured that your pet will be cared for in a safe, clean environment without that "hospital smell".
